La Quinceanera cake

Just delivered today to help celebrate Veronica's 15th birthday.  Our client requested a 2 tier pillow cake in pink with a blue gum paste shoe.  She sent us a picture of a cake she found on the Internet to give us an idea of what she wanted but we put our little twist to the cake to make it our own and make it special for Veronica's milestone birthday.

The pillows were vanilla cake with vanilla mousse and fresh strawberries.  The bottom tier was a 12x12" double layer and the top tier was a 9x9" double layer. All details on the cake were done in fondant and the shoe was made from gum paste and painted with edible blue food colouring with a little vodka and pearl luster dust.  We think it gave it a nice effect.  We also used pearl luster dust to accent the flower boarders, corners and tassels.

We added a few crystals on the front of the shoe and on the back bow to add a little glitter.  The 2nd picture of the back of the shoe was taken when the shoe was in the drying stages.

Here's a close up of the detail work we did.
Corner details and flower boarder was created using the new Wilton silicone moulds which we just purchased and love.  We created a quilting effect on the top tier and accented the quilting with pink dragees.

The board was covered in draped fondant to make the pillows appear to be sitting on fabric and we added a few non edible acrylic gems for a little bling.

We hope Veronica and her guests enjoyed the cake.

Happy 15th birthday Veronica!
