An Elmo 1st Birthday

It seems like yesterday that we made Victoria's christening cake and now she is turning 1.  We were asked to once again help with this little one's special day.

Since Victoria is a fan of the ever lovable Elmo, her mom asked if we could make a cake with the Sesame Street character.

Both tiers are chocolate fudge filled with white chocolate mousse. The 2D Elmo is made with gum paste and fondant. And Victoria's name and age on the Sesame Street sign is all done in fondant.

The red loopy gum paste bow tops this bright and colourful cake. We also made Victoria her own special little smash cake for her to have fun with.  Also done in chocolate but covered in red butter cream to resemble Elmo's fur.

A small ball pan was used to create Elmo.  Fondant was used for his eyes, nose and mouth.

Happy 1st Birthday Victoria!

Baby news!

Last Sunday, the 26th of January, a baby shower was held for Tasha in the anticipation of the soon arrival of her 1st baby.  Tasha's mom Marisa asked if I could come up with a cake to help them welcome the little bundle.

I have always wanted to make a little crib cake and I thank Marisa for trusting me with Tasha's cake.  As it turns out I picked the right colour to make the crib which matches the new baby furniture.

The only criteria given by Marisa were the colours used in the bedding. She had sent me a picture of the favours being given to each guest which happened to be soap in cute little polka dot boxes which I incorporated in the bedding. The colours were kept pretty neutral since they will find out if it's a girl or boy when he or she will make an appearance.

On the same day as the baby shower it also happened to be Tasha's birthday. What better way to celebrate. We do wish you a Happy Birth Date Tasha.

We wish all the best for the soon to be parents
and baby!

40th Birthday Princess

Last Saturday, January 25th Christine celebrated her 40th birthday with a few of her close friends and family.  She contacted me to ask if we could make her a special birthday day to help with the celebration.  Christine was specific in what she wanted in the way of cake.  Her colours, hot pink, turquoise, and zebra print.

She requested royal pillows topped off with a crown fit for a princess.  The bottom pillow cake is vanilla cake with the same zebra print pattern on the inside as well. The cake is filled with white chocolate mousse. The top pillow if vanilla cake tinted in the same bright pink and also filled with white chocolate mousse.

The crown is made from gum paste and painted with edible gold colour and dusted in gold luster. A gum paste string of pearls with a heart pendant was also added.

The # 40 is also made from gum paste and tinted with edible gold colour.

Happy 40th Christine!
Have a fabulous year!
