Cars theme birthday

Last year for Nathaniel's 1st birthday we made him the Cat in the Hat birthday cake. Tomorrow is Nathaniel's 2nd birthday and this year his mom asked if we could make him a "Cars" themed birthday cake.

We started off with a 10" round torted chocolate cake filled with cookies & cream filling. We purchased Lightning McQueen & Nater so Nathaniel will have a little memento from his cake. All details are made from fondant.  A little brown sugar was used for the desert sand.

Happy 2nd Birthday Nathaniel! Hope you have a fabulous year!

Meeska Mooska Mickey Mouse!

Our Mickey Mouse club house cake was quite popular when we made it for Jackson's 2nd birthday last October.  And today we delivered another Mickey Mouse club house cake for Christian's 2nd birthday. Christian who is my cousin's grandson is a big Mickey fan just like Jackson. We made this cake slightly smaller using a double layered 12" square chocolate cake as our base filled with cookies & cream filling. We used purchased little Disney characters for the cake which make a great little gift for Christian to keep.

The club house is also choc cake made from a 6" 1/2 round, Mickey's head & glove balloon are Styrofoam balls covered in fondant. Mickey's ears, the shoe garage and the slide are rice krispie treats covered in fondant.  All other details are made from fondant.

Lots of Love Christian and happy 2 nd Birthday!

30th Birthday

This cake was ordered by a previous client of ours for his sister's 30th birthday celebration tonight. The requested design was a #30, the rest was pretty much left to us other than the cake was to be chocolate with cookies & cream filling.

We decided to go with pinks and choc brown. All details are made from fondant with added gold dragees and a little glitter.

Happy 30th Birthday Janu!

We hope you enjoy your cake. Best wishes for a fabulous day and many more wonderful years to come!

Ninjago birthday

One of our favourite cakes was revisited this past week for Jake's 6th birthday party Saturday. Sarah, Jake's mom found our blog through a friend and saw the Ninjago cake we made this past October. As Jake is into Lego she thought he would love this cake.

Jake's cake is a 9"x13" double layer choc vegan cake with cookies & cream filling. As all our cakes are totally nut free we also had to take into consideration a little girl at Jake's party that is not only allergic to nuts but to eggs as well. So we offered our yummy chocolate vegan cake that tastes just like choc brownies.
The Lego ninjas and sword are made from fondant / tylose mix. The sensei and Lego blocks are made from fondant.

Happy 6th Birthday Jake!
We hope your birthday turned out to be the best birthday ever.

Sarah, Jakes mom sent us a very nice email and some wonderful pictures with one of Jake blowing out his candles on the cake but unfortunately I can't figure out how to put them on here as the pictures are too big. Oh well you'll have to take our word for it, Jake is definately a cutie!

40th anniversary

This past weekend we made a cake for a past clients who's parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary. It was only to be a small family function but they wanted to surprise their parents with a cake. They requested a vanilla cake with vanilla mouse & fresh strawberries and wanted it to look like the top tier of a wedding cake.

This is an 8" inch round covered in white fondant with royal icing piping. The roses are gum paste and tinted with red edible, all other details are also made from gum paste with a little edible glitter to give it a little sparkle.
