Tage's Christening

Sunday was our dear friend Tanya's son Tage's Christening. Tanya once again asked if we could help them celebrate this wonderful event.  Tanya sent us a picture of a cake she liked that she found on the internet. We thank the person responsible for the design as it a simple and darling one.

This single tier cake is alternating vanilla and chocolate cake layers filled with a cookies and cream filling. The illusion of a cross is made up of small fondant flowers.

Fondant blocks with gum paste letters to spell out "Tage". The cake and board are bordered with blue ribbon and few scattered flowers.   We wish Tage and his family all the best in the years to come.

God Bless Tage!

Red, Black & Gold 25th Birthday

Saturday marked a big day for Shannon who turned 25. She contacted us regarding a cake to help her with a few friends celebrate. She came to us with a colour scheme of red, black & gold and the only other criteria was that it had a gold loopy bow on top and a big #25 somewhere.

This 2 tier cake is red velvet with a cream cheese filling.  Black & red fondant covered with black & red fondant detail and accented with gold dragee along with the gold bow & # 25. We added a couple of fondant ribbon roses as an added touch.

Shannon picked up her own cake Saturday morning and was delighted when she saw it. We wish Shannon all the best in the coming year.

Happy Birthday Shannon!

God Bless Domenico

Today marked a beautiful day for little Domenico and his family, his Christening day. Norma, a good friend of mine asked us to make a cake to help celebrate this special occasion. It seems not so long ago we made her baby shower cake and now her little one was officially welcomed into God's family.

Norma had requested a cross for the cake and a little sleeping baby at the foot of the cross.  The cake is a vanilla cake filled with white chocolate cream and fresh strawberries.

The little sleeping baby was molded from gum paste, and covered with a little fondant blanket. The butterflies, banner with wording were also made from gum paste. The rosary is made up of gum paste pearls and baby blue dragee.

We wish Domenico and his family all the best of wishes today and always!

Sweet 16 in Tiffany blue

Another Sweet 16 for this week end.  One of my neighbours contacted us and asked us to make her daughter Samantha's Sweet 16 cake.  Sam loves the Tiffany blue colour so Lisa, her mom, asked if we could incorporate the colour for her cake.  The only request other than the colour was that a big loopy bow be the topper, the rest was up to us.

Since Samantha loves chocolate this 2 tier cake is chocolate fudge cake filled with chocolate mousse.  The #16 and the butterfly are made from gum paste, all other details are fondant. The loopy bow topper is fondant with added tylose. The fun quilted design has added flowers & dragee.

We wish Samantha a very Happy Sweet 16!

Sweet 16 Soccer ball & shoe

This cake is similar to one we did before. In fact the birthday girl saw a cake we previously did on our blog of a 2 tier cake where the top tier was a soccer ball with a shoe on it so she requested one similar.

We dropped this cake off yesterday along with 200 mini cupcakes. The soccer ball is vanilla cake filled with cookies & cream. The shoe is gum paste painted in edible silver with glitter with added rhinestones for that little extra glitter. As the colour scheme was white, black and hot pink, we added a hot pink & leopard print scarf around the soccer ball.

This is a closer look at the shoe in the drying stages.

The cupcakes were vanilla and chocolate topped with butter cream in the birthday girl's colours. Some black, white and hot pink sprinkles were an added touch.

The birthday girl's mom emailed me today and let me know that the party went well and the cake and cupcakes were a big hit. She promised to send pictures of the display.

Anthony's Confirmation

The last delivery today was for Rosa's son Anthony.  Rosa requested a cake to help celebrate this memorable event with family and friends.

This 9 x 13" slab is covered in chocolate fondant with cream accents to emulate the invitations. The cake is a coffee flavoured cake with a cappuccino cream filling.

Also requested were 2 doz cupcakes in vanilla and chocolate which we filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with our yummy butter cream. We added a fondant cross in red on each cupcake which is the traditional confirmation colour.

Harrison's Christening

Mel and Phil's nephew Harrison was christened today and of course we would make his cake. The colours of choice for this cake was baby blue, and chocolate brown and white.

This 2 tier cake consists of a 10" square and a 6" square vanilla cake with vanilla mousse filling.  All details are made from fondant except for the cross which is made with gum paste and the brown ribbon added on each tier.

God Bless Harrison!

Baby to be

Today was Cathy's baby shower to help celebrate the soon arrival of her little girl.  Soon there will be the pitter patter of little feet and the giggles to fill their happy home. We were pleased to be asked to provide the cake for this celebration.

The design and colours was chosen by Cathy, the feet to emulate the invites.  This 2 tier cake consists of a 12" and 8" round vanilla cake filled with vanilla cream and fresh strawberries.

The bow topper is made from gum paste, all other details were made with fondant.  We also provided decorated sugar cookies which were to be given to each guest as thank you.  Here is a sample of some of the 90 cookies made which consisted of 4 shapes; a baby carriage, bottle, rattle and bib. All were decorated with fondant.

We wish Cathy and hubby congratulations and all the best!

Christian's 3rd Birthday!

This next cake was a last minute addition for this weekend. Melissa, who is the daughter of my cousin, asked if we could make Christian's cake for his 3rd birthday.

Melissa provided the pirate ship and characters for this "Jake & the Neverland Pirates" themed cake. The 12x12" cake is for the chocolate lovers.....chocolate fudge cake with chocolate fudge frosting topped with chocolate mousse for the filling.

Yummy buttercream frosting for the water and golden brown sugar for the sand.

Happy 3rd Birthday Christian!
