Music & Literature

Today I delivered cake and cupcakes to the Arts & Letter Society Hall in Toronto for Geoff and Sarah's wedding.  Geoff is a musician and Sarah is into Literature and they wanted to have what's important to both of them represented in their cake.  Sarah requested cupcakes and her Mom thought adding a small cake for the cutting ceremony would be nice.

We came up with an idea to incorporate both arts and being held at the Arts & Letter Society we thought this set up would be trendy and elegant. Geoff and Sarah loved the idea and here's what we came up with.

The colours chosen for the wedding are white and black with burgundy roses so we kept everything within the 3 colours.  The cupcakes are encased with black wrappers, topped in white butter cream and embellished with a single black music note.

Rather than the typical cupcake stand we decided on displaying them on platters over various size vases.  Within each vase we placed burgundy gum paste roses surrounded by black shiny stones.

The cupcake flavours are red velvet filled with cream cheese frosting, vanilla filled with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate fudge filled with white chocolate mousse.

The cake we decided on to bring the literature into play was an open book which is open to the page that reveals the couples 1st dance as husband and wife done in edible prints. Cake done in red velvet filled with cream cheese frosting.

The book binding and ribbon page marker are done in a white wash burgundy and a burgundy gum paste rose lies on top.

We truly enjoyed being a part of making Geoff's and Sarah's wedding special with the cake and cupcakes.  We wish the newlyweds all the best for their future.

Congratulations!

Little Man on the moon!

Also requested this past weekend was a baby shower cake. This cake was requested by a friend of the mommy to be and apparently the mommy to be is a big fan of our chocolate Guinness cake.

The design idea came from Melissa (the mommy to be's friend) and a good friend and customer of ours.  Both tiers are Chocolate Guinness cake filled with white chocolate mousse and covered in a dark blue fondant.

The moon is made from fondant and gum paste mixture.  Our little baby is done in gum paste with a fondant blanket draped on him.

Fondant stars and painted gold swirls with blue candy covered chocolates and fluffy white buttercream clouds welcoming baby Jack's soon arrival.

God Bless little Jack and his safe arrival!

Shannon's 26th

This past weekend we were once again asked to help Shannon celebrate a birthday. She loved her cake from last year's 25th birthday and asked if we could help her out again.

This year's request was a leopard print 8" chocolate fudge cake filled with chocolate fudge filling. The leopard print is painted on with edible food colours and topped with fondant stars and hearts.

Happy 26th Birthday Shannon!

Sarah's bridal shower

This Friday, 28th March 2014 is a very special day for Geoff and Sarah and we are delighted to be asked to provide the cake/cupcakes for this upcoming event.  But 1st to honour Sarah and celebrate her upcoming nuptials a bridal shower was held on the weekend I returned from my vacation.  We were asked to provide a small cake for her and her guests.

This 10" cake was requested in chocolate fudge filled with chocolate mousse.  Sarah's Mom Judy didn't have any preference on design just asked to be simple and pretty.  Since Sarah's wedding colour is burgundy, we decided to do this ruffled cake in graduated colours starting with burgundy at the bottom.

We topped off the cake with a light burgundy fantasy rose with the petals tipped in a darker shade.

Congratulations Sarah and we look forward in helping make your upcoming wedding special.

Melissa's bridal shower

I guess it's time to catch up. I took a break in February and we went on a fabulous vacation but as soon as we were back it was back to work.  My cousin's daughter Melissa, whom I refer to as my other daughter Melissa, is getting married this May and on the evening of Friday March 7th family and friends helped celebrate the upcoming event with a bridal shower in her honour.

Melissa requested cupcakes for the event and a small cake.  Melissa likes to keep things simple and requested chocolate and vanilla cupcakes topped with blue frosting and little white sugar pearls.

Of course we filled the cupcakes..........the chocolate cupcakes were filled with white chocolate mousse and the vanilla cupcakes were filled with chocolate mousse.

We also provided a small 8" cake done in vanilla filled with white chocolate mousse and topped with a small bunch of blue gum paste hydrangea.

It was a fun night out with great food, great friends and family and great fun helping Melissa celebrate her upcoming special day.
