Music & Literature

Today I delivered cake and cupcakes to the Arts & Letter Society Hall in Toronto for Geoff and Sarah's wedding.  Geoff is a musician and Sarah is into Literature and they wanted to have what's important to both of them represented in their cake.  Sarah requested cupcakes and her Mom thought adding a small cake for the cutting ceremony would be nice.

We came up with an idea to incorporate both arts and being held at the Arts & Letter Society we thought this set up would be trendy and elegant. Geoff and Sarah loved the idea and here's what we came up with.

The colours chosen for the wedding are white and black with burgundy roses so we kept everything within the 3 colours.  The cupcakes are encased with black wrappers, topped in white butter cream and embellished with a single black music note.

Rather than the typical cupcake stand we decided on displaying them on platters over various size vases.  Within each vase we placed burgundy gum paste roses surrounded by black shiny stones.

The cupcake flavours are red velvet filled with cream cheese frosting, vanilla filled with chocolate mousse filling and chocolate fudge filled with white chocolate mousse.

The cake we decided on to bring the literature into play was an open book which is open to the page that reveals the couples 1st dance as husband and wife done in edible prints. Cake done in red velvet filled with cream cheese frosting.

The book binding and ribbon page marker are done in a white wash burgundy and a burgundy gum paste rose lies on top.

We truly enjoyed being a part of making Geoff's and Sarah's wedding special with the cake and cupcakes.  We wish the newlyweds all the best for their future.

Congratulations!

  1. A lovely note from the bride's mom Judy;
    Hi Mary!
    The cakes were fantastic!!! The wedding cake was simply gorgeous, everyone was amazed at the talent that went into it! I didn't get Mel's picture until after the wedding, but I think Joseph did a good job setting everything up the way you had planned. I have attached a couple of personal pictures and when we get the professional ones I will forward those as well. Thank you again so much for everything Mary, the cakes were the one thing we had no worries about. You and Mel are simply the best!

    Talk to you soon,
    Judy
