Goodbye tummy, hello Mummy!

Last Sunday a baby shower was given for my dear friend Norma who is expecting her 1st child in October. I gladly offered to make a cake for the occasion. I had recently brought in some of our chocolate Guinness cake for the girls in the office to try and Norma loved it so we decided to make her baby shower cake in chocolate Guinness.

Since Norma and hubby Fred do not know what the sex of the baby is we decided to stay very neutral with the colour scheme. The pregnant belly cake is one that Mel & I have been wanting to make and just waiting for the opportunity. Norma loved the idea and decided to let us go with it. Both boobs and belly are Chocolate Guinness cake filled with white chocolate cream mousse.

The boobs are 1st covered in skin tone fondant and then draped with yellow fondant for the bodice. We continued the yellow fondant draping over the belly for the skirt. We added a fondant bow with polka dots and a little fondant trim at the neck line and hem of the skirt with a little added luster dust in yellow.

With baby's little foot pushing through no doubt trying to get out into the world and meet his mommy & daddy.

We wish Norma & Fred all the best wishes with their soon new addition.
Always remember;
"PINK or BLUE WE WELCOME YOU!"

Princess Reese's 5th Birthday

This request came from Tanya for her daughter Reese's 5th Birthday. My how the years fly by, she is already 5 and is very much into princess'. Actually she asked that all invited come dressed as their favourite princess.

The 10" square is vanilla and chocolate cake filled with cookies and cream. The edible print is actually of Reese's birthday invites. We just inserted our own birthday wishes.  The 4 little crowns are made from gum paste and the cake is bordered with purple & pink candy covered chocolates.

The little Princess' are surrounded by colourful fondant daisies and sugar pearls.

Happy 5th Birthday Princess Reese!

Ana's 50th Birthday

This cake was picked up yesterday for a birthday celebration for Ana, shhhh, it's a surprise. Her son Nelson and his girlfriend Kristin ordered this cake to help celebrate. A picture of a similar cake was given to us as an idea of what they wanted.

This 3 tiered cake consisted of the 2 bottom layers being vanilla cake with vanilla cream & fresh strawberries and the top lay is a dummy cake. They wanted the look but would have been too much cake for the party.  The requested colour was purple which must be a favourite colour of Ana's.

The zebra print shoe, the # 50 and the roses are all made from gum paste. The bow and other details are made from fondant.

Mel received a nice thank you email from Kristen. Said that Ana loved the cake and so did everyone at the party.

Happy 50th Ana!

Tasha's Bridal Shower

Earlier today I delivered a cake to Farro Restaurant in Vaughan to help celebrate Tasha's bridal shower.  Her mom Marisa who happens to be the sister of a close friend of mine and a previous client send me a picture of a cake she thought her daughter Tasha would love.

The 3 tiered cake is comprised of a 10", 8" & 6" lemon cake filled with lemon curd and lemon mousse. Covered in white with delicate edible white & pink lace with a gum paste framed cameo in the center.

The frame is actually dusted in gold luster but shows up a little orange in the picture.

We wish Tasha all the best with her upcoming wedding. She will make a beautiful bride! Wishes for many happy years!

Blue Jays birthday cake

What better way to spend a birthday than a Jays game on Saturday (sorry they lost) and a Blue Jays birthday cake to help celebrate on Sunday.

This 6" round cake is a chocolate lovers dream. Chocolate fudge cake filled with chocolate fudge & mint cream filling.  Topped with an edible print of the Blue Jays logo bordered with red candy balls and blue chocolate filled candies.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DERON!

1 Direction!

We were asked to make a cake this past Saturday for Sophia who turned 12.  She asked for a cake with her favourite boy group "1 Direction".

Prior to this cake request I for one had no idea who this band was. I guess they're today's eqivalent of "New Kids on the Block".  A cute bunch of boys as pictured on the cake with an edible print. The cake is an 8" square chocolate & vanilla marble cake filled with oreo cream cheese filling. All the other details are made from fondant.

Also requested were 1/2 doz cupcakes (3 choc & 3 red velvet). Both flavours of cupcakes were filled with the oreo cream cheese filling, topped with butter cream and an edible print of the group's logo.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOPHIA!

We truly apologize that your name was spelled incorrectly on your cake.  A word to the wise, always, always double check spelling!

Kaileigh's wedding

This past Friday we delivered a cake for Kaileigh and Edwardo's wedding at the Ambiance Banquet Hall. The cake requested was a 3 tier with bottom & top tier chocolate Guinness cake with white chocolate cream filling, the middle tier was vanilla cake with vanilla cream & fresh strawberries.

Gum paste cala lilies and roses cascading from the top tier to the bottom tier. The eggplant coloured cala lilies complimented the decor of the wedding. The roses were mainly white and some with a touch of lilac and a little glitter.

Our congratulations to the bride and groom and warm wishes for many happy years together.
