Our second cake which was required for today is for a couple getting married at Sunnyside Park in Toronto. Her mom ordered the cake and told us that her daughter, the bride, did not actually want a cake and if she had to have one did not want a traditional wedding cake. Our client told us that the bride's bonbonierre (or wedding favours) were going to be little birds nests and the centre pieces for the tables were bird cages so we thought it would be fitting to keep with the theme of birds. We were also informed that the bridesmaids were in yellow. So we have the theme and the colour and this is what we came up with,
This 2 tier vanilla cake was filled with vanilla mousse and fresh strawberries. The 2 love birds are made from 1/2 & 1/2 gum paste and fondant sitting in a fondant birds nest. The branches and flowers are made from fondant. The bride's aunt picked this up today on her way to the wedding and was thrilled with the cake.
